The official launch of the annual festival is a cultural showcase
and celebration of the creative spirit of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival events
and other events happening in and around the City of Toronto. This event
engages the three artistic groups for the festival: Toronto Mas Bands
Association, Organization of Calypso Performing Artists, and the Ontario
Steelpan Association.
Carnival Night Market | July 14, 2018

Junior Carnival King and Queen Showcase | July 15,
2018
Location: Woodbine Centre
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The under-16 performers are the main attraction of this
event. The performers present the creative work of the talented artists,
designers, and costume builders of the Toronto Mas Bands. At this event, the
Junior Kings, Queens, and individuals of the Carnival bands present the
uniquely designed costumes for each participating masquerade band.
Junior Carnival Parade and Family Day| July 21, 2018
Location: Malvern and Neilson Parks, Scarborough
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The Junior Carnival and Family Day event provides its
audience and the surrounding community of Malvern the opportunity to experience
the cultural presentation of young people who participate as producers,
performers, and presenters. This event engages the three stakeholder groups:
Toronto Mas Bands Association, Organization of Calypso Performing Artists, and
the Ontario Steelpan Association. The Junior Carnival and Family Day event
includes the Junior Calypso Showcase and the Grace Foods Junior Chef
Competition, fun, and music.
Carnival Ball | July 27, 2018
Location: Beamsfield Centre, Exhibition Place
Time: 5:30 p.m. – Midnight
An elegant evening at the Beamsfield Centre presents the
cultural outputs of the Toronto Mas Bands Association, Organization of Calypso
Performing Artists, and the Ontario Steelpan Association to this unique
audience of donors, sponsors, and partners. The Festival Management Committee
gets the opportunity to recognize the historical impact of visionaries and
community participants.
Carnival Village | July 28, 2018
Location: Regent Park Community (Daniel Spectrum)
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Calypso Showcase | July 29, 2018
Location: St. Peter and Paul Banquet Hall
Time: 6:00 p.m. - Midnight
This event marks the successful end to the Calypso Music
Tent series with the crowning of the Calypso Monarch. Calypsonians who composed
their unique songs for the Carnival have the opportunity to be judged for their
talent and creativity. This event is organized by the Organization of Calypso Performing
Artistes.
Lighting of the CN Tower: August 1, 2018
Location: Roundhouse Park
Time: Ceremony 7:00 p.m. – 9:00pm
This event recognizes the Emancipation of Slavery and will
commemorate this event with the lighting up of the CN tower along with the annual
Underground Railroad event organized by A Different Booklist Cultural Centre.
King & Queen Showcase| August 2, 2018
Location: Allan Lamport Stadium
Time 7:00 p.m. – Midnight
The Toronto Mas Bands Association provides the main cultural
entertainment for this event, with male and female performers presenting the
creative work of the talented artists, designers, and costume builders. At this
event, the Kings, Queens, and individuals of the Carnival bands unveil their
elaborately themed costumes showing the creative minds and imagination of
designers. The Ontario Science Center continues to present the Innovation in
Mas award for the engineering, construction, design, and best environmental use
of material in a costume.
Flare| August 3, 2018
Location: Toronto Event Centre, Exhibition Place
Time 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
This event is a new addition to the festival. Carnival foods
and delights to taste and enjoy at the Toronto Event Centre.
Pan Alive | August 3, 2018
Location: Allan Lamport Stadium
Time: 7:00 p.m. - Midnight
Presented by the Ontario Steelpan Association, this event
showcases the musical and tonal qualities of the steelpan. This Panorama of the
North is the best opportunity to hear this wonderful instrument in all its
glory. This event showcases the talent of steel pan performers ranging in age
from early teens to adults as they perform their original renditions to the
aficionados.
Friday Night Mas’| August 3, 2018
Location: Ontario Place
Time 9:00 p.m. – Midnight
From morning to midnight, it’s a non-stop Carnival party,
before the Grand Parade. This will be a glowing event for party goers with Mas’
in de Place.
Grand Parade | August 4, 2018
Location: Exhibition Place, Ontario Place & Lakeshore
Blvd
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
The Grand Parade is the largest event of the annual
festival. This event continues to attract local, regional, national, and
international attention by visitors and media as it is the highlight of the
annual Festival. After months of preparation, masqueraders in colourful and
striking costumes and steel pan bands wind their way from the assembly area at
Exhibition Place along a 3.5-kilometer stretch on Lakeshore Boulevard.
Big People Fete | August 5, 2018
Location: Ontario Place
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Presented by the legend Dr. Jay 'De Soca Prince', this event
is one of the most anticipated parties.
Closing Church Service | August 12, 2018
Location: St. James Cathedral
Time: 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
