The Real Jerk moving to new Queen Street E. location - CityNews
Fans of The Real Jerk won’t have to travel very far to get dinner — the popular and decades-old Caribbean restaurant is moving just a block down the street.
The restaurant will be serving customers for the final time on Sunday after 24 years at its location on Queen Street East at Broadview Avenue. The eatery will then move down the street to 625 Queen St. E., right before the bridge over the Don Valley Parkway.
Restaurant staff confirmed the new location to CityNews.ca on Friday morning.
The popular eatery is holding a farewell party on Saturday starting at 7 p.m.
“Lily and I want to say thank you to the community for 24 great years at Queen and Broadview. Any new location will take at least two months before we are ready to re-open” owner Ed Pottinger said earlier this month.
“It will be a tearful goodbye to Queen and Broadview. We had so many great memories and that’s the nature of business when you love what you do.”
The owners were served with an eviction notice from the building’s new owner, Buckingham Properties, while on vacation in Jamaica last January. Ed and Lily Pottinger won a court injunction in February to allow them to operate at the Queen and Broadview location for another year.
