Greetings!

The Toronto Revellers would like to inform everyone that Diane and Jenny Paty will not be returning for the 2011 season. We thank them for their contribution over the years and we wish them well in their future endeavors.
For all of those Revellers who played with Infatuation, Ebony & Ivory and Disco Nights, I would like to emphasize our commitment to providing quality and the ultimate carnival experience. I have enlisted designs from an experienced, innovative, second to none designer from Trinidad, who has many years experience, creating, crafting and building world class costumes.
I personally encourage, welcome and want all of you to return to the Toronto Revellers. We are very excited as we can not wait to share OZ with all of you.

Soca artiste Arrow dies

A week after being airlifted into Antigua for treatment Mount St John’s Medical Centre, internationally acclaimed soca artiste Alphonsus “Arrow” Cassell has died.

The 55-year-old passed away this morning at his home in Montserrat, to which he returned early Monday.

He had been treated at MSJMC for pneumonia by local doctors Prince Ramsey and Ian Thomas.

His brother, Justin “Mighty Hero” Cassell, who said his younger sibling had been ill for some time, had been holding out hope that he would recover. In an on-air interview today, he thanked people across the region and the world for keeping the faith during the artiste’s illness, and for their messages of condolence since word of Arrow’s death spread.

Arrow was diagnosed with a brain tumour early last year and was treated in Miami and Montserrat.

He won Montserat’s calypso monarch competition on four occasions before focusing exclusively on his recording and touring career. He shot to international fame with his 1982 smash hit “Hot, Hot, Hot”. Among his other hits were “Long Time” and “Groove Master”

Caribana 2011... Welcome to OZ

Caribana 2011... Welcome to OZ

imageCARIBANA 2011

Toronto Revellers head down the Yellow Brick Road in 2011

Who remembers, Dorothy, the Wicked Witch of the West, Glinda the Good Witch, Toto, the Cowardly Lion and the Tin man. The Toronto Revellers have always raised the standard of excellence when it comes to innovative concepts and originality. That is why the Toronto Revellers are embarking on the most creative adaptation to date, simply entitled, Welcome to OZ.

Designers and Section Leaders are feverishly on their way to create a world that unites all things carnival and OZ. Let's just say, this won't be just ordinary, Welcome to OZ, will be Scotiabank Caribana’s most desirable creation – mystical, beautiful, contemporary, the perfect combination of creativity and the carnival spirit.
Experience the journey, expect the un expected, as we enter the land of ... OZ.

Caribana 2011

BRRRR.....who turned off the heat......Summer's done guy (insert Scarborough accent here)!!!

Here's some news about Caribana 2K11 to keep you warm:

3 Bands have revealed their themes for next year -

Toronto Revellers: "Welcome to Oz "(loving the logo)

Tru Dynasty: "The Roaring 20's"

Tribal Knights: "LEGENDS"

I think we will have a theme from the Saldenah camp very shortly.

MIAMI CARNIVAL:

For those who played mas with CNZ, Miami Carnival will be your FOURTH opportunity to wear your costume this year. Check out the Carnival Nationz website for all the details on how to play mas with Carnival Nationz Miami: http://www.carnivalnationz.com

Tribal Knights is also offering their masqueraders the same opportunity so check out their website for info on how to play mas with Party People. Websites: http://www.tribalknights.com and http://www.partypeopleinternational.com

I believe Callaloo is heading to Miami too so stay tuned for more info!
